Itinerary
Live your Greek island dream
and explore the remnants of prior civilizations. Relax on the green
oasis of Samos, encounter the spectacular volcanic island of Santorini,
lounge about the sun drenched islands of Mykonos and Ios, and explore
the remains from the golden age of Greece in Athens.
Day 1 - Kusadasi to Samos (B)
Spend the morning wandering cosmopolitan Kusadasi before boarding
the afternoon ferry for Greeces lush green island of Samos. Stroll
around the 19th century neo-classical buildings in Old Vathi or perhaps
visit the excellent Archaeological Museum.
Day 2 - Samos to Mykonos (B)
This morning we board the ferry for Mykonos. Slip into island life
by tanning on the golden sands before experiencing the completely
outrageous Mykonian nightlife.
Day 3 - Mykonos (B)
Optional day trip to the neighboring island of Delos. This mecca of
the golden age of Greece is today an island wide open-air museum.
Of course, you could always spend another gratifyingly lazy day on
the beach.
Day 4 - Mykonos to Ios (B)
Revitalize with an early morning swim. Wander the charming whitewashed
narrow alleyways of Mykonos Town. This afternoon we head for the golden
sands of Ios.
Day 5 - Ios (B)
Sluggishly rise from your island induced sleep and head for any one
of the famed beaches of Ios. Wander the picturesque old chora or take
a daily boat trip to Sikinos, a neighboring island virtually untouched
by tourism.
Day 6 - Ios to Santorini (B)
Get the adrenaline pumping behind the ski boat at Mylopotas beach.
For stunning coastal panorama, take a ride to Paleokastro and Psathis
Bay, before boarding the evening ferry for the dramatic island of
Santorini.
Day 7 - Santorini (B)
Take an optional boat trip in the world's biggest volcanic crater
above sea level. Visit the active volcano, swim in the warm thermal
waters and take a therapeutic mud bath. Ride a donkey, explore the
picturesque cliff-hugging town of Oia and top the day with a dramatic
Santorini sunset.
Day 8 - Santorini to Athens (overnight)
Soak up the sun on the black sand beaches. Perhaps explore the archeological
sites of Ancient Thira or Akrotiri. Tonight, we return to the mainland
via the overnight ferry*.
Day 9 - Athens (B)
After lunch, take a leisurely walk to the sights of Greco-Roman Athens.
Stand in awe at the Temple of Zeus, the largest temple in Greece.
Explore the mother of all ruins, the Acropolis and see the famed Parthenon,
the Temple of Athena. Explore the ancient city centre, the agora,
and take in the impressive view of Athens by night.
Day 10 - Athens (B)
Today we say farewell to our new found friends. |

Day 8 - Santorini (B)
Walk 50 metres to the beach or take a bus into the modern capital,
Fira. Check out one of the world's most important archeological
museums and the excellent exhibition of Minoan wall frescoes.
Perhaps, visit the Minoan city of Akrotiri.
Day 9 - Santorini (B)
Sit on the edge of the crater, take in the spectacular view and
ponder the massive eruption that brought an end to the Minoan
civilization. If you're keen, hike up to Ancient Thira, the ancient
Greek capital, before hiking to the monastery that occupies the
highest point on the island.
Day 10 - Santorini (B)
Tour ends. |
Note:
Before 1 June and after 1 September there may not be an overnight ferry.
We may need to depart Santorini for Athens mid-afternoon. In this case,
an extra night's hotel accommodation will be provided in Athens.
Tour includes:
* Transportation by ferries between the Greek islands.
* Transfers between ports and hotels via bus (transfers between hotel
and port in Athens via metro).
* Services of an English-speaking professional tour leader.
* 8 nights hotel accommodation in share basis (1 overnight ferry) -
9 nights accommodation during Olympic period (no overnight ferry).
* 7 breakfasts.

* Cost of any daily excursions or transport on the Greek islands
(excluding hotel transfers).
* Entrance fees to any sites or museums.
