Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival Day
Welcome to Istanbul. Private transfer to your hotel in the heart of
the old city of Istanbul, Sultanahmet. Today we will meet our guide
and perhaps go out for a meal and a few drinks.
Day 2 - Istanbul City Tour (B)
After breakfast, we partake ina fully guided tour of the only city
to span two continents, Europe and Asia. We visit the Blue Mosque,
Topkapi Palace, the Aya Sofya Museum, the Underground Cistern and
the Hippodrome.
Day 3 - Istanbul to Gallipoli (B&L)
Today we depart Istanbul and drive to the World War I Battlefields
of Gallipoli. After lunch we are guided around this now serene site.
You have the opportunity to commemorate the veterans and in particular,
the fallen, during an emotional and unforgettable day that includes
a visit to Anzac Cove, Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair, Johnston's Jolly, the
Nek and the Anzac Museum.
Day 4 - Gallipoli to Kusadasi (B)
After breakfast, we drive to the famed ruins of Troy, home of the
Trojan horse legend. We continue driving south along the Aegean Coast
and stop for lunch in the small village of Bergama,followed by a tour
of the ruins of Pergamum, home to the steepest amphitheatre and founder
of modern medicine. Tonight we rest in Kusadasi.
Day 5 - Ephesus Tour (B)
One of the best-preserved ruins in Turkey awaits us today as we are
guided through the ancient city of Ephesus. We see the Celsus Library,
the Grand Theatre and the oldest advertisement known to man. We also
visit the house of the Virgin Mary (where she lived her final days),
the Cave of the Seven Sleepers and the site of the Temple of Artemis.
Day 6 - Kusadasi to Samos (B)
Spend the morning wandering cosmopolitan Kusadasi before boarding
the afternoon ferry for the lush green island of Samos, Greece. Stroll
around the 19th century neo-classical buildings in Old Vathi or perhaps
visit the excellent Archeological Museum.
Day 7 - Samos to Mykonos (B)
This morning we board the ferryfor Mykonos. Slip into island life
by tanning on the golden sands before experiencing the completely
outrageous Mykonian nightlife.
Day 8 - Mykonos (B)
Optional day trip to the neighboring islandof Delos. This mecca of
the golden years of Greece is today an island wide, open-air museum.
Of course, you could always spend another gratifyingly lazy day at
the beach.
Day 9 - Mykonos to Ios (B)
Revitalize with an early morning swim. Wander the charming whitewashed
narrow alleyways of Mykonos Town. This afternoon we head for the golden
sands of Ios.
Day 10 - Ios (B)
Sluggishly rise from your island induced sleep and head for any one
of the famed beaches on Ios. Wander the picturesque old chora or take
a daily boat trip to Sikinos, a neighboring island virtually untouched
by tourism.
Day 11 - Ios to Santorini (B)
Get the adrenaline pumping behind the ski boat at Mylopotas beach.
For stunning coastal panorama, take a ride to Paleokastro and Psathis
Bay before boarding the evening ferry for the dramatic island of Santorini.
Day 12 - Santorini (B)
Take an optional boat trip in the world's biggest volcanic crater
above sea level. Visit the active volcano, swim in the warm thermal
waters and take a therapeutic mud bath. Ride a donkey, explore the
picturesque cliff-hugging town of Oia and top the day with a dramatic
Santorini sunset.
Day 13 - Santorini to Athens (overnight - B)
Soak up the sun on the black sand beaches. Perhaps explore the archeological
sites of Ancient Thira or Akrotiri. Tonight, we return to the mainland
via the overnight ferry.
Day 14 - Athens
After lunch, take a leisurely walk to all the sights of Greco-Roman
Athens. Stand in awe at the Temple of Zeus, the largest temple in
Greece. Explore the mother of all ruins, the Acropolis and see the
famed Parthenon, the Temple of Athena. Explore the ancient city centre,
the agora, and take in the impressive view of Athens by night.
Day 15 - Athens (B)
Tour ends.15 Days/13 Nights - Marvel at Istanbul's splendid architectural
heritage, pay homage to the Anzacs and veterans of Gallipoli, clamour
over the ruins of ancient Troy, Pergamum and Ephesus, wine and dine
in the resort town of cosmopolitan Kusadasi, then live your Greek
island fantasy. Relax on the green oasis of Samos, encounter the spectacular
volcanic island of Santorini, lounge about the sun drenched islands
of Mykonos and Ios, and explore remains from the golden age of Greece
in Athens. |

Day 13 - Santorini (B)
Walk 50 metres to the beach or
visit the modern capital, Fira. Check out one of the world's most
important archeological museums and the exhibition of Minoan wall
frescoes. Perhaps, visit the Minoan city of Akrotiri.
Day 14 - Santorini (B)
Sit on the edge of the crater. Take in the spectacular view and
ponder the massive eruption that brought an end to the Minoan
civilization. Alternatively, why not hike up to Ancient Thira,
the ancient Greek capital, before walking to the monastery that
occupies the highest point on the island.
Day 15 - Santorini (B)
Tour ends. |
Note:
Before 1 June and after 1 September there may not be an overnight ferry.
We may need to depart Santorini for Athens mid afternoon. In this case,
an extra night's hotel accommodation will be provided in Athens.

non-smoking bus in Turkey.
* Transfers between ports and hotels via bus in Greece (transfers between
hotel and port in Athens is via metro)

* 13 nights hotel accommodation in share basis (1 overnight ferry) - 14
